Nokia 330 to be 770 successor?

I just read this story, about a new Nokia device to be the 770 successor.

http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4687

Is this true? Will the 770 become unsupported and obsolete?

The 770 will eventually be phased out but the 330 is not the replacement for it. Read this thread.

Not a typo but as with most companies nothing is set in stone until after it has come to market.

The Unix OS keeps the 770 somwhat safe from obsolesence, but you must understand that hardware is short lived and the 770 is aging. I doubt that Nokia can afford to alienate the user base of the 770 (Are you listening Nokia?) in favor of a new system. Be prepared, however, to see interest in the 770 to continue to wane.

This whole thing is very similar to what happened with the Newton.

I'm betting that navteq actually ported thier software to linux. there is a huge cost structure associated with both windows mobile and windows ce, i bet the 770 was a proving ground to show that they could get away from the windows os monopoly.
