How to create a repository server?
hello every one.
Weŕe developing some game on N900 and we need to test installing the game through a repository. Because of some security reasons, we can not public these files to some free repository server. Could you please help me to create my own repository (http://repository.maemo.org/extras/ for example). I tried to follow some instruction to create an ubuntu repository but itś not work on N900. Please help me. |
Re: How to create a repository server?
debian-howto
you say you tried the instructions for an ubuntu repository - what didn't work, exactly? "doesn't work" is a statement i really really hate :) |
Re: How to create a repository server?
I hope you are not thinking of distributing the game through a 3rd party repository and instead will offer the game through existing repositories. Personally I woudn't like to see us going back to having 101 different repositories.
If you are using it just for testing purposes, forget what I just wrote :) Have you looked at: http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/286 |
Re: How to create a repository server?
Just jumping in to wish you welcome to the forum and maemo.org, phancao! :)
Can't help with your question but looking forward to the game! |

Re: How to create a repository server?
Please note that maemo.org offers repositories for closed source applications (non-free), if you want to sell the game you should use the Ovi Store.

You could install rootsh from extras to the device, copy the .debs to the device and use 'sudo gainroot' and 'dpkg -i <package name(s)>' to install the package(s) on device. This way you can avoid the non-trivial task of setting up a repository. (disclaimer: no I haven't set up a repository, so I'm guessing that it's not trivial) |
Re: How to create a repository server?
Hmmm haven't really looked but this is of interest to myself as well. Another thing I'd like is to have a buildbot and a way to grab existing extras and such packages and rebuild them without the optification.
