Facebook photo tagging on N900
Is Facebook photo tagging supported at present on the N900? When I say tagging, I mean tagging people within the picture.

Can you use the Maemo browser on the N900 to visit Facebook and tag people in photos? Yes. EDIT: Sadfist is faster. |
Re: Facebook photo tagging on N900
Would tagging them prior to upload/at the upload point even be possible? Don't they just slap a mouseover on some coordinate in the image that flashes the person's name?

If the Blackberry application is built upon an open Facebook API, then a similar uploader* could likely be built for Maemo. It may even be possible to make it a Sharing plug-in. Mostly though, it appears the application by RIM is designed to compensate for the fact that the Blackberry browser can't handle the actual Facebook website. In contrast, the Maemo browser handles the site reasonably well. * Nokia has already made a Facebook plug-in for Sharing in Maemo 5, so following a quick download and install, you can already upload photos straight to Facebook. You just can't tag people using it. |
Face tags on Pictures
Since N900 Gallery App already offers the ability for general "word tags" and "geo tags" I would love to see an extension for it with support for Face/person Tags. Face tags are everywhere now days, is one of the main thinks on Facebook Photos, Google's Picasa, Apple's iPhoto and the list continuous.
Such a plugin can work in harmony with phone contacts and then other services such as facebook plugin can also take advantage of it. |
