[Android] ARM opens resource centre for Android devs

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/0,1...9884645,00.htm

Seems like ARM is actively supporting hardware and software companies in developing products for Android running on ARM.

Not sure, if this is a good thing or a bad thing for Maemo.

On the one hand Maemo might also benefit from more software companies doing (commercial) software development for the ARM platform. e.g. like Adobes Open screen project.

On the other hand more ARM devices running Android and more commercial grade applications being available for Android also means a stronger competition.

From the article, this is more for integrators, so mostly low level or hardware oriented folks, not generic software development. Anyhow, it's clear Android will grow, and ARM has every reason to help the planned foray into netbook/smartbook/appliance territory - this has very little to do with what Maemo is and does. Also, if Canonical's Dalvik patch thingy becomes mainstream, we can still leverage some Android apps, while Android will not be able to tap into it's Linux heritage. It would also be interesting to see maybe Jambi resurrected as Qt on Android, but I digress...
