Re: silverlight capable?
What has the link to do with the subject line?
Currently Silverlight does not work on the N900. However there is a Novell Moonlight plugin available for the Linux Desktop Firefox and I wonder if that might work in the Maemo MicroB browser too, if somebody wants to test... :-P |
Re: silverlight capable?
The open source community is generally not all that enthusiastic about extending Microsoft's reach.

Re: silverlight capable?
But if that "reach" includes allowing you to stream Netflix on your mobile device (which is what Silverlight does for Macs)...then wouldn't you want it too?

Meh, silverlight will die soon anyway. It doesn't offer anything special, and most sites will just prefer to use flash or something else to reach more people
Personally, i haven't seen a site impose silverlight just yet |
Re: silverlight capable?
Silverlight is crap, it is part of Microsofts strategy to give an inferior user experience in Linux. Moonlight always lags a version behind Silverlight and does not support DRM, so I doubt it will ever work with Netflix.
Back in the days before Netflix used Silverlight I was able to watch movies using Virtualbox.. now with Silverlight the movies don't play well, for some reason it is much more resource hungry than their previous solution. |

Not that this is very common use case or I'm defending MS but Silverlight and WPF has IMO some benefits. I would be very happy if Silverlight was offered to all platforms and then we could also use handhelds in our scenario. That would be so . I remember that there was announcement that MS is going to push Silverlight to Maemo and Symbian. What happened to that? Or was it only to Symbian? |
