Browser delay
Hi Guys,
On my new n900 when a try to open a web page, sometimes, but I might say very often actually, the browser just show me a blank page for a minute or so with the loading bar just bouncing from on edge of the adress bar to the end and vice versa, without loading anything at all, then, suddenly it begins loading fast as wind... What might be the problem? Is it linked to the "web" bug |
Re: Browser delay
Possibly your connection isn't too fast. I opccasionally get the 'page of graph paper effect' for a few seconds while n900 gets enough data to start rendering.
Can you actually check the duration of your 'minute or so' - and check your d/l speed. If you have good data connection and genuinely 'a minute' then there might be a problem. |
Re: Browser delay
Could be WiFi power saving issues with the router. Try reducing the WiFi power saving level on the N900.

@ Pycage
Can you be more precise? what is wifi power level? My wifi is linked to optic fiber cable 400 Kb/s. It's damn fast :-) |
Re: Browser delay
@ Rev
Im not talking about the graph effect but the latency is at benning of the loading process, before not even 1Kb is loaded |

Go to the network connection settings on your N900 and edit your WiFi connection. Click through the wizard until you reach the advanced settings. There you can set the level of power saving. There are three levels and default is the highest level. Try the medium level and see if that improves connection. |
Re: Browser delay
In my experience a strange waiting time before a burst of speed loading the page can mean a few things:
*dns latency: it takes some time to translate the hostname, then all goes real fast *slow negotiation of connection (which disappears after the connection is established) *large packet sizes => data comes more rarely, but in huge chunks Can you try accessing the same wifi connection with another device and see how it goes? |
Re: Browser delay
Thx guys... I 'm trying all those solution after lunch
I'll keep you posted! |
Re: Browser delay
try to change your wifi channel in your router settings. (type 192.168.178.1 in your browser in most of the cases to access it)
Default channel is 6 most of the cases, but sometimes this frequenzy is used by other electric devices in your home. Try 1 or 11. |
