Mobile Firefox + OpelGL ES (+Graphics driver) = Better browsing experience?
First Microsoft announced that they are building GPU acceleration to IE9 and then Mozilla also announced similar plans. This made me think if it would be possible to get any speed gains also on tablets Tom's Hardware has a table where you can see the speed gains on Windows 7 and powerful desktop PC.
It would be really great if it would speed up the Mobile Firefox which looks very promising browser so far. I just don't know if it's realistic to expect acceleration on mobile browser. Any thoughts? |

We've seem promising results with the Direct2D work on Windows and are in the process of changing a few things in our layout engine to make it easier to take advantage of more deeply integrated hardware compositing and rendering. We expect to be able to use OpenGL ES 2 which is starting to show up on many mobile devices (including the N900) to accelerate the browser, including things like HTML5 video.
