Mpeg2 and build-in player in N900
 

Does the N900 built-in player support mpeg2? Tried streaming mpeg2 transport stream recoding from my Dreambox and the player informed me that format is not supported.

We can help you if you tell us the mimetype of the stream. But my educated guess is to install the libmpeg2-4 library (try gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg too), install tracker-distutils and try the following:

in fact it is video/mpegts you want not video/mp2t with the tracker-register-mimetype

you would need to install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg to get the mpeg2 decoder.

however because there is no dsp accelerated mpeg2 i doubt SD recordings from your dreambox will play well enough. some tricks with not decoding all macroblocks etc can be done to optimise it.

I use KMPlayer which works in combination with DVBViewer + Recording Service which is similar to DreamBox' streaming

The connection breaks off after a short time and the sound is not syncron?

Hi, I have Dreambox 800 HD PVR transcode with computer and watch any chanel i want on my beautiful N900 :-).
The combination of Dremabox, VLC streamer, VNC viewer and KMPlayer and 550kb per sec. is enough to watch TV on 3G

have you got extra decoders support installed from the application manager?
