Geolocation bug #6359
I found a issue with the positioning system, really strange issue:
- I activated both GPS and Network location... ok.;. On Maps, everything is ok, I am well located... but as soon as I want to use geo tagging (using IM, photo ...) the tag says : "@ Paris, Tahiti" ...., if I select "streen name" it shows : "Avenue des Champs Elysée, Paris , Tahiti" Why Tahiti?????? is that a bug (I noticed the same issue on a N900 preview video on internet by The phone house team) |
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
Sounds like a bug in the map data, please report it.
|
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
That you, Gaugin?
(sorry - couldn't resist) |
Re: Nokia made me more exotic

Re: Nokia made me more exotic
Ok, I openned a bug : https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6359
Can someone point out where is the code use for geolocation so I could have a look on it. |
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
liblocation gives you geolocation. but I suspect its Ovi Map data went wrong?
|
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
Ovi Map shows the right position
|
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
liblocation is the code you want to check (to get coordinate data that is).
|
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
Ok, I will.
Does anyone experienced the same issue? |
Re: Nokia made me more exotic
The issue is certainly due to libcityinfo which uses /usr/share/clock/wdb .
The reverse lookup can be match by several country and display a wrong info. Eg : Spain and "Las Canarias" share the country code ES... this mean geolocation could show : "@ Madrid, Las canarias" Eg: France, Tahiti, Guyana share "FR"... Eg : Danemark and Groenland share DK.... |
