Quick Question for the Spartans
Given that we're seeing a small 'fail rate' of hardware problems in the n900 forum, I wondered if we could check what the fail rate was in pre-production devices. I know Chippy's demo had a screen problem, but I've not heard of an other problems.
So have there not been any? If the fail is, say, 0.5% there should be at least one out there with a microphone problem. Anyone? I'm just curious. I know you will always get the 'odd dud'. But it's almost impossible to gauge the scale in the n900 forum because the cross people are posting in every thread making the fail rate look much higher than I suspect it actually is. It will be poor consolation for the people who got the wrong'un, but might help the noise if we can start to say "there are 10,000 n900s out there and 15 have been returned for fauilts" or whatever. |
Re: Quick Question for the Spartans
i was hesitant to report it to tmo earlier, but after filing a bug report and updating the firmware, it seemed reasonable to assume i had a faulty ear speaker.

Mine has a screen-related problem (touch sensitivity on the left edge, bug 6088) but it looks like an isolated case and I haven't experienced any other hardware issues. The speakers and microphone work, no spontaneous reboots, no dead pixels. |
Re: Quick Question for the Spartans
The only issue the preproduction devices had was someone bricking one and mine refusing to be reflashed as easily as the rest, but that was about it from what I know.

Re: Quick Question for the Spartans
My only issue was the charger dying after leaving Amsterdam. I had no sound being recorded the other day, but rebooting fixed that.
