Maemo 4/ Advanced Power + Battery Icon
I've searched the forum for a while looking for a way to remove the default battery icon because I want to switch to Advanced-Power. I can't untick it in the statusbar settings and I can't find a thread, or if it's even possible. If not, I might just switch back to the normal battery icon because I don't like having that arrow thing on my statusbar. Is there a way to remove it?

It's not possible for me to deselect Battery from my Status Bar panel. Battery , Connection, and Presence are greyed out.

Did you already install the advanced power app, and if so, what version are you using? -jkq |
Re: Maemo 4/ Advanced Power + Battery Icon
Installing AP should've enabled the removal of the original battery applet. As it appears not to have done so:
1) sudo gainroot; 2) vi /usr/share/applications/hildon-status-bar/hildon-status-bar-battery.desktop; 3) Add an '#' (w/out the quote marks) in front of the line saying "Mandatory=True"; and 4) Save and exit. |

Then you should be able to disable the applet via control panel -> panels -> status bar.
