Why did N900 claim that it plays all types of media files
 

When out of the box..you can't even play wmv and avi file?? Very disappointed with false ads. Where do i download the the codecs to make this work.

It has been made a million times. I have only tried mp4 files and they worked fine. But 1920 x 1080 mp4 files don't play. Haven't tried other file types. But before I got the device I was definitely under the impression it would play my Full HD videos even though it would be overkill since the device resolution is much lower.

there's quite a few threads on here saying the opposite.... Just do a search :)

some of the reviews also talk about this not being possible, the screen doesnt have enough pixels to start :)

I can guarantee that Nokia never claimed 1080p videos could play on the N900.

Standard definition AVI files work great, however. If your movie AVI file is about 700MB it will work fine on the N900.

Anybody know if all the xvid files i download will work? Around 350mb each.
