Bluetooth issues with Maemo Mapper
Hi All,
I have several issues with bluetooth on the device. 1. Maemo Mapper cannot find the bluetooth device, I have to use the bluetooth plugin to find the mac address of the device (the plugin connects ok) then give the address to maemo mapper and it connects. 2. The 1st connection works fine, but if I turn off bluetooth and turn it on again I cannot connect either with maemo mapper, nor the bluetooth plugin. I have to reset the 770 to be able to connect. 3. I tried to reset the bluetooth device with the maemo mapper menu option and it gives an error about modifying the /etc/sudoers file. What do I need to modify there .. Many Thanks, Bernie |

Also, using both the bluetooth plugin and Maemo Mapper (with a MAC address) may not work correctly. If you are using the bluetooth plugin, you should enter "/dev/rfcomm0" (or whatever the port is for your bluetooth receiver - rfcomm0, rfcomm1, etc.) as the MAC address. Quote:
If you continue to have issues, using the bluetooth plugin and specifying the MAC address as "/dev/rfcomm0" may work better for you. Quote:
Code:
user ALL = NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/hciconfig hci0 reset |
Tanks gnuite,
Setting the /etc/sudoers file as you stated seems to have done the trick, I don't need to use the bluetooth blugin at all, and maemo mapper repeatably connects to the receiver fine now ...... By the way, excellent application thanks for all your hard work .... Cheers, Bernie |
Re: Bluetooth issues with Maemo Mapper
Hey guys - I just read this thread looking for answers as to why I couldn't seem to pair the various GPS units we had lying around the office with my Nokia 770.
I had thought that the pairing was accomplished by installing the Bluetooth plugin, connecting to the GPS device through that, and then starting up Maemo Mapper and pressing "Enable GPS". It seems however that the proper route is not to use the BT plugin, but to go into Maemo Mapper's "Settings", do a "Scan" and connect to the proper device within Maemo Mapper itself before the "Enable GPS" step. Just thought I'd record this for posterity. :) |
