Scroll bars always visible
I've been seeing a few posts lately about people not figuring out some lists are scrollable (the most visible example is in the profile settings list). Can't say i blame them, there's no visual cue to show the list continues down.
On a desktop, when there's something to be scrolled, there's a scrollbar. This shows there's more than what you see on the screen, inviting you to peek lower. Some may argue the scroll bars take up space, but that's not true: if you look closely, when they do appear (during scrolling) they are on the frame, on a space that is reserved anyway, but unusable. So my proposal: make the scroll bars always visible. Or at least make that user-settable. I'm pretty sure it's not a major task What say you? |

My exact words: it would be handy.

Re: Scroll bars always visible
This is why HildonPannableArea (http://maemo.org/api_refs/5.0/5.0-fi...nableArea.html) has the \\\"hscrollbar-policy\\\" and \\\"vscrollbar-policy\\\" properties; it\\\'s up the application\\\'s developer if they wish to set them to GTK_POLICY_ALWAYS for a scrollbar instance in an application.
Personally, not being able to drag the scrollbars used in the PannableArea is a major source of annoyance for me - try going to the end of http://mg.pov.lt/maemo-irclog/%23mae...12-08.log.html in the Maemo Browser... Barring that, one could always modify hildon-pannable-area.c in libhildon to always show the scrollbars, regardless of the policy... |

Changing the c file would probably be a nice hack, but it won't solve the problem unless we recompile everything. And since the profile settings part can't be recompiled, well.... |
