edit a bluetooth profile to remove features?

So I have a minor problem with the stereo in my work truck (Sony Xplod MEX-BT2700). It pairs with handsfree and A2DP profiles just fine, but only plays audio through the handsfree profile. If I have to choose between the two, I'd much rather have A2DP instead. Is there a .conf file I can edit to change the stereo's profile to remove the handsfree features, and if so, will that make it work the way I want?

All my other bluetooth devices (headphones, wireless headphones and a speaker) all work properly, so I'd like to get it working if possible.

Same problem here (Sony DR-BT20NX stereo headset). It clearly supports A2DP but the N900 seems to only want to talk to it over the hands-free profile.

Surely there is a way to toggle this? I have gone over a few old posts but they all seem to apply to the older tablets and their OS.

Please help...

I have a need to look at a similar issue. A colleague pointed me in this direction: http://linux.die.net/man/5/hcid.conf

I have this exact problem aswell. My Sony DR-BT50's are 90% of the time connected with the HFP instead of A2DP, which makes phone calls problematic as I'm unable to hear the audio through my headphones.

I have lost loads of calls this way. Could anyone make the information from the link above a bit more noob friendly?

Can you reproduce the situation consistantly for when it does and doesn't connect? If so please post this as a bug, plenty of people will tell you how if you not sure how to do this.

I believe that there are a number of bluetooth stack requests/bugs. I believe that some are being worked on at present.

Just wanted to quickly update my own post: after upgrading to firmware PR1.1, not only is the issue I was having with the BT profile not properly switching to A2DP fixed (without any need to manually hack config files) but the BT headset is also fully functional, including the AVRCP controls (play/stop, next/prev track, volume). Those never actually worked with any phone for me.

Quality is also extremely decent; very much on par with a corded headset which is another surprise.

Almost unbelievable; I bought this headset over 2 years ago and I can finally use it :) For once, it's thank you Nokia, keep the good work!
