No Goosync for N900
I asked Goosync if they could support the N900. They say no. Here is their reply
Stuart Etchells, Dec 09 10:20 (GMT): Hi, Unfortunately that device does not appear to be SyncML compliant for over-the-air synchronisation. This means it would not be compatible with GooSync. There are no plans to provide a sync application for this device. |

Re: No Goosync for N900
It's simply dumb it doesn't support SyncML, but that's just my opinion....another point for the others to compare against.
I have the N900 and I also ordered the N97 so I am not fan boy of Apple. As a matter of fact, i sold my iphone the other day. |
Re: No Goosync for N900
Ok figured this:
Go and sign up for a free account at www.nuevasync.com Then edit your account settings to sync the calendars that you want and you will need to allow them to access your account in Google which will be a prompt when you login to google. Then on the N900 - go into Settings - Mail for Exchange and enter the following: Server: www.nuevasync.com Port: 443 Secure Connection Then your nuevasync account details: User Name: whatever you signed up with Password: whatever password you setup with nuevasync Domain: (Leave this blank) If you go into the advanced settings then just make sure you select only the things that you want to synchronise. I made sure that I was just syncing my google calendar. Just follow the onscreen instructions on the N900 and it should start to sync. Keep an eye out for error messages like problems connecting to the exchange server etc. I was getting problems with it just waiting to sync and I entered my nuevasync password again and it went through and sync'd no problem and very quickly. Give it a try. |
Re: No Goosync for N900
Hi All
As an Internet Tablet fiddler I dont really understand SyncMl and why we cant have it on the N900. Could someone explain I have tried the nuevasync and it seems to work Ok. But as you can have only one Mail for Exchange it will be a problem for those people who need to sync with their Outlook |
Re: No Goosync for N900
Be careful with nuevasync - it has caused me a lot of problems with contacts. Within the first couple hours of using, all contact IM designations were set to "other", a few I edited on the phone lost their picture both server and phone side. Several lost ALL phone numbers server and phone side.
I posted a detailed description in forum and they quickly came back and pointed me to an FAQ (that I read and says nothing more than some ambiguous mumbo jumbo) and didn't answer any of my questions. The only thing he really said was "it's rare for someone to have more than 3 or 4 numbers"- I don't agree with this and at least it's not in my world. PLUS I keep 7 numbers in my own contact that I use (work, work fax, home, home fax, youmail vm number, cell number, google voice) -heck if I'm going to remember them all since I've gotten used to relying on address books for years. He also indicated that "some aspects" of what I described could use improvement (I read this to say, they know about the issues). Anyway, try it if you want, but personally, I'd stay away from it right now - I find MfE's kinks as big as they (pretty much unusable with calendar if you like to see your notes) are much smaller than nuevasync. http://forum.nuevasync.com/forum/posts/list/324.page |

That worked just fine for the first week. But over the weekend, I replaced it with direct syncing to Google via their Exchange ActiveSync service using these directions. That's been working fine for days, both ways, and cuts out the middle-man of Nuevasync. For the record, my device shipped from Dell with OS version 1.2009.42-11.002. Your mileage may vary. |
