N770 how to reinstall maemo mapper ?
 

Hi,

tried to update maemo mapper and other applications
from download section.

Date for refreshed on M770 is: 15/07/08
always the same.

Tried to download Maemo Mapper directly from Download Page

Nokia 770 Internet Tablet

Web browser just opens install file,
no installation.

First time, it started to install , than failed.

What's wrong ?

Trying for updates via / from Application manager

Refreshed: 15/07/08

(no updates available)


Any help ?>

updated MM
and it looks like Google Maps/ Earth tiles
are no more supported.

All I get is
Processing Maps ...

25 maps failed to download
49 ...
..
..
..
any idea ?

Google has made their repository a moving target for people like us, so it's often hard to download from it. You can see in this Maemo Mapper Repositories thread what has worked most recently. You might be best off using a different source for your maps. Some people find Google is an OK source if you don't download too many tiles at a time.

thanks bunanson,

spent some hours reading all messages in threads about mm and
GM, GE download problems.

Solution is nice to get source link to tiles from web browser first,
than use it in mm as a link in maps repositories.

Tommorrow start with installation of Skype (hope to succeed).

One question.
From time to time, writing a reply, a press some key on kmeyboard
and message is lost, I am moved to another page
and previous message is lost as not cached by web browser (Firefox).

Already lost 2 messages
any idea ?

Accessing a number of web services, on-line reply message is in most cases still on, going back to message frame.
