Transflexive screen
Hi all,
I was wondering if the N900, much like the N97, has a transflexive screen, making the screen readable also in broad sunlight. There hasn't been any sun here where I live since the N900 has arrived, or I'd have checked this out myself of course. Just by comparing the screens of the N900 and the N97, I'd say that the N900 doesn't have a transflexive screen. On the N97, when switched off, some sort of pattern is visible "within" the screen, which might be the transflexive part. The N900 screen however does not have that. Any definitive insights on this ? |
Re: Transflexive screen
It was supposed to have a transflective screen, I really hope it has!
I'm off to Dubai for a few days next week, so I'll definitely know as if it hasn't the screen will be black outside. According to this: http://maemo.org/community/council/t...y_perspective/ Quote:

Re: Transflexive screen
Yes, the screen is transflexive and sunlight-readable.

Re: Transflexive screen
Yes, the display is readable in direct sunshine. It even seems a little less "washed out" than my N810's screen does, when viewed in bright sunlight.

Re: Transflexive screen
The screen protector on my N900 is a bit shiny, so if you hold it at the wrong angle to the sun there is some glare (unlike the matte finish on my N810's DuraSec).
I didn't notice any reduction in sunshine readability after adding the screen protectors. Obviously they must block some of the light (on the way in, and again on the way out) but the change wasn't enough to notice. |
