Change order of applications in main menu
Is it possible to rearrange the applications in the main menu? I dug around for a while, and found /etc/xdg/menus/hildon.menu which allows me to change which applications appear on the first screen, but it doesn't follow the ordering in that file (for example, osso-xterm.desktop is the second one listed but is on the third row).
I found that for some applications, moving its .desktop file out of /usr/share/applications/hildon and moving it back will move it to the end of the list (on the second screen), but this doesn't work for pre-installed apps. Is it possible to change this order or is it hard-coded? |
Re: Change order of applications in main menu
Seeing this menu was one of the unpleasant surprises on the N900. No re-arranging entries, no (sub-)categories... it's a PITA to use.
I wonder if some usability guru told them it's good this way.... or if they had technical problems implementing it properly and will do so in a future update. As for now, I'm afraid we'll have to live with it. :( |
Re: Change order of applications in main menu
Similarly is it possible to sort the applications in the More menu?

I'll second (or third) the request for the ability to do this.
