Maemo Mapper: How do you delete configuration files to reinstall fresh?
Thanks in advance. The repository to get apt-tools is down, so I can't use apt-get remove --purge to clear out the config files. Does anyone know where they reside so I can delete them manually?
Thanks. |
They are stored using GConf, which on a desktop system lets you merge configuration parameters from multiple sources. The "correct" way of deleting settings stored in GConf is with the command-line tool "gconftool" (or a GUI equivalent, but there probably isn't one included with Maemo). I think the command to delete all the configuration associated with Maemo Mapper would be

The settings are actually stored in the file Quote:
(I'd try the --recursive-unset method first myself, though, but make sure you're giving it the right argument; if you accidentally --recursive-unset "/apps" or "/", you can expect lots of things to break.) |
Thanks a million, up and running!
Many thanks to you for your help. I appreciate the tip on gconf too.
I have been able to downloads routes now too. In case this helps anyone else, I've tried out my syntax at the GPX server, http://gnuite.com:8080/cgi-bin/gpx.cgi, that Mapper accesses before downloading, just to make sure I'd get a route. For example, the following was a good address for the airport in Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain: Aeropuerto de Barcelona Barcelona Spain I did find a small glitch when I tried Bellcaire D'Emporda as a destination (it worked fine as a point of origin). 10 Carrer Major Bellcaire D'Emporda Spain actually routed to Toroella de Montgri, but that's only 5 kilometers or so away, so no big deal. :) Thanks again for all your help, and thanks to John for a great program. I'm looking forward to getting a Bluetooth dock for my GPS receiver so I can really put it to use. Regards, burque |
