Nokia Authorized Repair Center
I just brought the Nokia 770 a little over a month, and now I have to send it to the repair center. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue. It's like a GPU problem. I got some nasty vertical line across the screen when drawing dialog box. Pictures are available here
The problem is I have been waiting for almost 3 weeks now, waiting for part for almost 2 weeks and still waiting. Have anyone ever have any experience, good or bad w/ their repair center? This may sound like a rant, well it's a little of a rant, but I would like to know if this is normal. I just exchange couple of e-mails w/ the nokia peop today, and they told me the waiting for part could be as much as a month, and if they still have not receive the part, I have to contact them and finding out what's next. I'm confused, I have to keep track of their repair process.http://www.bkknight.com/bkkboard/htm...s/ranting2.gif Seriously, I'm pretty p1$$ off at the moment for not having it on my chrismas/newyear, but it seem like there is nothing I can do at the moment anyway.http://www.bkknight.com/bkkboard/htm...ns/ranting.gif |
Yeah, you got what is called the WSOD (white screen of death) although a milder case of it. I had that happen too, but at least it went south on the second day so I could get it swapped out where I purcashed it.
Curious how many times about you've rebooted the thing? Does it normally just sleep? Any chance you momentarily stuck the power cord into the headphone jack by mistake at some point? I'm nervous everytime I turn on my current unit :( |
Now, I know what it's, and from the quick search for it in the forums, I think I should wait for them to fix it, rather than having them give me a replacement(hopefully they know how to permanently fix it), but I would be pissed if I have to wait a whole month and a half and then they tell me there is no replacement part, and they ship me another defective one.
An to answer your question weave, no I have it reboot for at least 20-30 times b4 it break. I don't think I have ever put the power cord into the wrong place. Anyway, I think I should shoot them the e-mail again to ask if they are aware that this serious problem is quite common, and whether they have a permanant fix for it. |

I like to think that this IT does what it is supposed to do just fine, understanding the limits of its availble Software / Hardware etc. Here we have to admit that any day it is much better than Dell Axim or Palm Lifedrive and other similar handhelds. Hopefully you will get a good IT back soon. :) |
