N900 as external GPS receiver for PC?
Hello
I'm a bit dissapointed with Ovi Maps on N900 not having turn by turn navigation. I would like to use my tablet PC as a navigation aid, but I need GPS receiver. Can I use GPS receiver built-in N900 as a bluetooth GPS and connect PC to it? Best regards Jakub |

In principle, yes. But someone would have to write some scripts and set it up.

For linux PC - very easy. You should config USB networking (or any other networking with n900), install gpsd and tell PC programms IP of a host (n900), on which gpsd is running.
On windows PC this is much-much harder, because you MUST buy one more GPS reciever and SHOULDN'T think about no buying unneccesary things. |

Re: N900 as external GPS receiver for PC?
i'm affraid it won't be that simple - you first need to point gpsd to some gps device, location of which is pretty much unknown in n900 (and even if it was, it still is probably kind of proprietary => unusable for gpsd)...
more bad news is that currently n900's gps seems to be a little inaccurate (if not useless - without internet connection) the good news is, it should be quite simple to implement a GPS simulator based on the location API provided from nokia... |

Then I don't see gpsd available for n900. Shall it work with Columbus?
