What is volume bar on the main screen (if you press on the clock)?

And why my volume while talking is always different? Not always max?

a) it's the main volume, as are the volume buttons when pushed using the desktop

b) it's a bug, apparently, altering volume in other apps also moves the main one and the call one. It's pending fixing, IIRC.

And where has this main volume meaning? When watching movies/playing music, you have volume control in media player. So?
