No *# commands
Hi there, im not sure how to call it, but the N900 seems not to be able to handle commands... like if i wanna divert my calls, i usually use a code: *62*0000....# for instance...
N900 gives an error stating the phone number is wrong... now for the divert , u can set it manually from the phone settings... but for other commands, that might be a problem... what do u guys think? |

Re: No *# commands
Im wondering whether or not to submit a new bug for this but i went over that bug report and i saw no mention of numbers starting with #.
As of now, it says 'incorrect number" when trying to send #225# (#BAL#) for example. For T-Mobile USA, the carrier allows you to send these codes to get quick account info #BAL# - Balance on the accound #MIN# - Minutes used for your pay period #MSG# - Messages sent/left for your pay period These are just some but they greatly come in handy and a quick way to check so i wont get any overage chages. Its sad they dont work on the n900. |
Re: No *# commands
This issue is posted a couple of times already (do a search) so i'm sure that they aware that # doesn't work.

Re: No *# commands
@ robbie
just checked the link u posted above... sometimes i just dont get companies/developers... this is supposed to be something so simple... i mean a 40$ phone handles it... how can it be missed or kept in line for an update release .... |
Re: No *# commands
Well, the 40 $ phone is probably riding on a software stack that has existed for over a decade.. The telephony stack in the N900 is (AFAIK) on it's first outing on this platform. Given this, it's unsurprising that the feature-set is minimal at this point, I think.

@Kwotski
i agree with u... but... what i meant is that this should be within the minimal pack... just my 2 c. on it for instance same thing regarding the fully automatic download of attachments in the email client... we know the device/os/software is new, yet its a feature that influences highly the bandwidth usage and should've been available since the beginning... i dunno if u got my pt... |
