Updated N900 kernel
Looking for some help in flashing the N900 with an updated kernel. Here is what I've done so far.
1. Downloaded the 2.6.32.1 stable kernel 2. Compiled the kernel zImage using 'make rx51_defconfig' and make zImage 3. Flashed the n900 with the compile zImage Everything compiled fine, and I was able to flash the n900 with the new kernel, but the n900 doesn't boot after flashing the new kernel. I'm sure there is something I'm missing, but any help would be great. Thanks |
Re: Updated N900 kernel
You need to copy all modules to /lib/modules/2.6.32.1 and maybe change the link current -> 2.6.32.1. Perhaps also run depmod -a 2.6.32.1.

Re: Updated N900 kernel
man i am watching this thread to see if you get it working. Please drop us an email if you did get it to work and maybe a howto.....
thanks. |
Re: Updated N900 kernel
This will not work as some drivers have not been ported upstream and are available only in the 2.6.28 kernel-source.deb file.
Download it, extract the source and use this as base for your changes. BTW: you need to use a cross-compiler for arm. |
Re: Updated N900 kernel
Ya, you'll have to make it in the kernel ARM scratchbox...
Also, probably better to use linux-omap 2.6.32 as a base instead of vanilla 2.6.32. Even that is still missing drivers. I have a bit of info here: http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Jebba Good luck, -Jeff |
