Qt 4.6 development for Maemo 5 on WinXP?
Hi,
Some time back I started writing a Qt app on WinXP with the intention to port it to Symbian (E71) and Maemo 5 (i.e. N900). Now that Qt 4.6 is out, the Symbian version should be possible, however, for Maemo 5 there is yet only a 'technology preview' that I'm not sure I can use on WinXp for development. Any help? Ideally, I would have liked it to work on the E61i, but I understand Qt apps will never run there :( Thx |
Re: Qt 4.6 development for Maemo 5 on WinXP?
The Maemo version is only needed if you wish to use some specific widgets or Maemo behaviour. For most things, however, you can just use the 'plain' desktop edition of Qt and #ifdef your way around the Maemoisms (at least until official support lands).

Re: Qt 4.6 development for Maemo 5 on WinXP?
Correct. Be aware, though, that while you should be able to develop it on Windows (or the Qt part, anyway), you'll need to use the Linux SDK and/or the device to run/test the Maemo port. The easiest way to do that is probably to use the VM. If your computer can't handle virtualizing it, then you could install the SDK natively on even an old Linux computer (e.g. build a junker from the closet or thrift store).
