All Files on Harddrive Read Only

Hey Guys,

Despite all the warnings from everyone about the extras-testing and extras-devel, I thought I was brave enough to install some apps from there. Now my N900 isn't able to Save any files or Delete any files. I keep getting errors stating that the file/folder is "Read Only"

I have come down to about 2 apps I've installed and used the last few days.

First, I installed Transmission with no problems and used it to download a file or two. But a couple of days ago, there was an update and I decided to install the update.

Later on, I installed DrNoksnes, zeemote, and wiicontrol to play some games. I tried playing with just the hardware keyboard on the N900 and worked out fine. The next day, I took out my wiimote and played around with wiicontrol, but was unsuccessful.

Now every time I try to save a file or delete a file through Bittorrent or on the N900 File Manager, I get an error with a message stating "Read Only"

Do you guys think it is the update on Transmission or perhaps wiicontrol? Should I reflash my phone?

Thanks in advance.

Hrmm - I have those installed and have downloaded items through transmission with no issues. Can you perhaps give us an ls -l of the location you are trying to save to. Also an output from the mount command would be great as well as far debugging goes.

My thought is that somehow you have gotten a file system mounted read only - have you tried a reboot?

hey brother, i had the exact same thing the other day. my only non extras apps are the same as yours, transmission and drnoksnes.

i was playing with transmission at the time, then i started to get the read only memory messages.

I found that afer rebooting 2-3 times i was back to normal, very scary tho, i thought my memory was corrupted!

The location of the files are all in different folders within my mass storage; which is n900.

I am a total linux newbie. Can you shine some light on how I can provide more information to fix the bug? How do I provide an output from the mount command?

I really appreciate your help.
