Pan
Hi,
I was searching for a tool for my n900 which will enable me to connect to internet from my laptop via Bluetooth and i found maemo-pan can do the task for me. But i couldnt install it in my device, guess its developed for n800 or earlier version of Maemo. Just wanted to knw how can i get it working Thanks |
Re: Pan
You can't, because it's not for N900. Bluetooth DUN support is in extras-testing (insert disclaimer here) and hopefully arrives to Downloads soon.

+1
looking forward to this. I guess maemo-pc-connectivity would do the job but it seems quite complex, it adds a lot of stuff I don't need, and I don't really want to add anything to my existing debian PC. What I don't understand is that normally it should be easy since bluez package should provide PAN support, according to : http://bluez.sourceforge.net/contrib/HOWTO-PAN Unfortunately, it seems that Bluez implementation in Maemo doesn(t include bluez-pan, since the "pand" command doesn't exist on my N900. It should be easy to add bluez-pan to existing bluez package. |
Re: Pan
Tried Bluetooth DUN, no support for PAN, i thought the other way though :(
There was no new menu or options after i have installed DUN, wonder how do i work with it. In any case i wanted the PAN, but it seems its not going to be there for n900 |

Re: Pan
I definitely don't want to try these weird experiments in
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=441213 I wish I could just do # apt-get install bluez-pan and follow debian documentation. Is it too much to ask ? |

Having said that, it does work beautifully once you get everything configured, and the process really isn't insanely complicated once you go through it.. it's just one of those procedures that's a bit tricky to explain concisely, so that thread is a bit shocking for a first-time reader ;) |
