Challenge: 100 apps in maemo.org Extras before the end of the year
 

I know that the Q&A system needs improvements and we’re experiencing some outage due to the servers move, well that’s the reason why this is a challenge :)

The deal is, test the apps currently in Extras-testing in order to promote them to Extras and make them available for all N900 users, simple isn’t ?

Currently we’ve 82 free apps in Extras, so we need 18 more, to make things even simpler for you, I made a list with apps that in my opinion are ready for Extras. I chose the apps below because they don’t have any flaws reported so far, and also because they can be in Extras before the end of the year respecting the 10 days of quarantine required by the Q&A criteria. Feel free to suggest any app that I missed, commenting here.

I've you had told yesterday, I could have pushed moodlight, too :-)
It works well and now includes LED flashlight mode. Will promote it ASAP.

Eheh, don't worry more initiatives will come, I've more ideas to kick testing, but we need improvements in the infrastructure first.

Awesome. Now I know why I can't promote conky yet. I'd obviously not noticed the 10 days of quarantine rule when flipping through the docs.

Great initiative! I'll use some time in my holidays to help. :)

BUT please let's not lower the testing standard in order to get more apps in Extras faster. We have got already 3 apps that had relatively evident blockers that ended up in Extras with +10 people giving thumbs up. Sooner or later these promotions slash back with e.g. upset/confused users.

That's one of the many problems that we have in the Q&A process, I think we all agree that those apps must be reported and demoted.
I strongly believe that most of the Q&A issues can be fixed when we implemented the proposed changes for the package interface, then these situations will be harder to happen.
I also have other ideas to improve the testing process, I will put these in discussion after holidays (testing app of the day, team of testers, ...) .
