Bluetooth stopped working
I have a problem with bluetooth and my Nokia 770. I've only had the tablet for 3 weeks and already it seems to have broken. Initial everything worked ok I was able to connect to my Nokia 6230i phone via bluetooth with no problems. However, recently I can no longer connect. WiFi is still working fine.
Failing to resolve the problem by removing applications I flashed the device using the Nokia software for Windows. So with a clean installation I tried to connect by scanning for a new phone, nothing found! The phone is set to show bluetooth connectivity and bluetooth is working as it connects to my car kit and laptop. Not being an expert on this device nor Linux I've tried to understand the bluetooth stack to understand where this is failing. I can find no error messages anywhere. Running 'hcitool scan' returns nothing, 'hciconfig -a' returns the following. Nokia770-39:~# hciconfig -a hci0: Type: UART BD Address: XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX ACL MTU: 339:6 SCO MTU: 180:4 UP RUNNING PSCAN RX bytes:2832 acl:0 sco:0 events:57 errors:0 TX bytes:20187 acl:0 sco:0 commands:51 errors:0 Features: 0xff 0xff 0x2d 0xf8 0x1b 0x18 0x00 0x80 Packet type: DM1 DM3 DM5 DH1 DH3 DH5 HV1 HV2 HV3 Link policy: RSWITCH HOLD SNIFF PARK Link mode: SLAVE ACCEPT Name: 'Nokia 770' Class: 0x100114 Service Classes: Object Transfer Device Class: Computer, Palm HCI Ver: 1.2 (0x2) HCI Rev: 0x0 LMP Ver: 1.2 (0x2) LMP Subver: 0xdb0 Manufacturer: Texas Instruments Inc. (13) I've used 'dbus-monitor --system' to monitor what's going on the dbus. I can see the commands but no error messages. I've run dmesg and the only thing that looks out of place is a series of aic23 power up and down commands. I would greatly appreciate some guidance with this problem. What is the best way to diagnose this problem? Is there a way to test the hardware? Does flashing the device reset everything back to factory defaults? Any help is much appreciated. John |
Re: Bluetooth stopped working
Can you do from CLI "hcitool scan" and see if it can find anything arround if you see your phone or anything arround than is working... also make sure you have your phones Bluetooth seetings to be visable to other phones.

Re: Bluetooth stopped working
Thanks for replying. Using my laptop and phone I have ensured that my phone is working and visible. My laptop detected it with no problems, however the 770 failed to find it with 'hcitool scan' command.
I am starting to conclude that this is a hardware fault. The thing I don't understand is there are no errors and it looks like it's transmitting and receiving data according to 'hciconfig -a'. It's just bizarre! |
