Google Talk/Webcam N800
 

Hello All,

Just got the N800 yesterday and I'm looking for someone to test the webcam and chat with. Unfortunately my friends are not into tech so if anyone wants to help me out please e-mail me at jrd042@gmail.com

I've tested it, and it won't work at this point. The tablet does not understand the Festoon plugin and vice versa.

Hopefully more info will come out; I've brought it to Nokia's attention.

EDIT: this is no fault of the tablet's. If Googletalk had built-in video this would not be an issue. Sorry if I caused confusion.

I've tested it n800 user to n800 user with non google talk account (regular jabber account, standard xmpp) and it works great! Face to face video conferencing, I was impressed.

Now it seems all that was needed was a compatible client. I have no idea if this is standard XMPP video conferencing or if this is something special outside of the Jabber protocol but it worked just fine n800 to n800 user. The video looked as good as one might expect.

Yeah, I should have mentioned I've tested n800 to n800 with success. However, I did experience some odd results (like the screen split vertically at one point) but I'm not sure of the cause. Do note that the webcam needs decent lighting for a decent picture.

Incorrect. That's just yet another hyperbolic statement. The issue I mentioned has more to do with the PC side of things, since Google lacks a built-in video capability. Note above that another user got Jabber video working.
