AFAIK there's isn't any other way than using the unzip command (install unzip).

1) Install unzip
2) Open X terminal
3) cd MyDocs/Downloads (if You placed it here)
4) unzip filename.zip

I just found this... Seems like Yerga has created an unzip add-on for the file manager... Great news... :)

It's in extras-devil so BEWARE...!

Kudos, thanks and all kind of gratifications should go to Danny Milosavljevic (I don't know if he has a Talk account though). He is unzip-fm's author.
I only packaged it for Maemo 5.

As a collateral action unzip is not visible in the Application Manager anymore. If you only want unzip, just install unzip-fm and unzip will be installed too.
Other collateral actions are: the new unzip version is the 6.0, and now it is optified.

Now we need a rar version for this and we're all set :p
Maybe there'll be a port of 7Zip for the N900 (integrated in the file manager preferably :D)

There's an alternative for unzipping files in Maemo/N900, it's called jar.

Install icedtea6 JDK.

Yes this installs a Java 6 runtime but that's a nice side effect, isn't it? (you can run Java SE apps) ;-)

Then you can use it to unzip files as such:

Code:

jar x FILENAME.zip
you can even create zip files:

Code:

jar c FILENAME.zip FILES...
