force wlan use specific protocol
I don't know if it's the router which is configured wrong, or if it's a maemo bug. Anyway, i can't connect to a PEAP wlan while my laptop (gentoo) can.
If i'm trying to connect manual to the eduroam wireless ('status bar' > connections) maemo ask for the wep key, which i don't have. Same when trying to save the connection (settings > connections ... > search wlan > eduroam), still asking for WEP key. If i don't let maemo search for wlan but manual set the ssid, i can give the right values, but after saving nothing happens. (still asking for wep key) Is there a way to force maemo to use another protocol? |
Re: force wlan use specific protocol
You can connect eduroam with PEAP auth according to this wiki page, but it takes some work.

Re: force wlan use specific protocol
I've got exactly the same problem as the starters-post at my university (University of Twente, Netherlands). As far as I know we also use the Eduroam project.
Whatever I configure in Maemo under 'Connections', the 'Connection name' never replaces the ESSID-name when I look for available Internet connections from the homescreen. So in my case: I have made a connection named 'UT WLAN', that uses the ESSID "WLAN" of my university. I followed the instructions in the above mentioned wiki page. But when I search for available Internet connections, only "WLAN" is showed en when I click that, the N900 asks for a WEP-key. I searched the internet for this problem, but could not find anything except this thread. What can be the problem? Little kick.
new version didn't change anything. Isn't there a way to connect to a wlan without the statusbar-connect utility? |
