Idea for an app - counter

1 Attachment(s)
I was in the car the other day playing a game called zitch dog (they played it on how I met your mother) and my problem was we kept forgetting the score. So I thought of this app to keep scores. When you started the app it would ask how many players there are and what their names are and also what colour their buttons will be. When you have entered all this you will come to the screen in the picture and then simply pressing the players name will give them a point. I have no knowledge of how to develop the applications but I thought it might be a good idea if someone wants it? :)

Neither does seeing how high you can throw your n900 but it still got one ;). It was just an idea and its pretty basic so I thought I would suggest it

I think it needs an app. I have this image of me, sitting in my armchair knitting. And at the end of every row, instead of having to write it down, I just tap the screen of mt n900 (on the arm of the chair, surfing twitter for me, connecting me to skype, and doing all the other things it does). Then when I put my knitting away, two quick clicks and it holds the number of rows till next time.

I believe this was suggested in the 'n900 is for girls' thread, and I know I posted it to the 'app suggestions' thread back in October. :)

There was a Java app I used on S60 devices that allowed you to count arbritary things, incrementing the relevant register when you pressed the relevant button. You could set different titles to each register and, IIRC, save different sets of tallies. Very useful for stock checking or similar, as everyone tends to lose count after the 200th or so rifle...

Edit: Here's a link at aas to the app I was thinking of...

I could make that app if u guys comes up with a project name and potential settings that should be available. The development and uploading to extras won't take more than a couple of hours :)

Very simple design: a square box. Tap in the box increments the number by one. On closing, offer a choice of 'clear' or 'save count'. (so if you are using it to count something important you can keep the score over several days).

Make it possible to run more than one box - up to say three or four - so potentially 4 boxes (Configurable through settings). Single tap in the right box increments by one (perfect for runs and wickets!)

That's basically as it's been set out above, I think.

Project name: suggest 'Bean' (cos it's a bean counter)

When I get back to knitting, this will be just what I need. :)

Sometime the most simple apps are some of the best, and I think this could be one of those.

Anyway, here are my suggestions for some options

My wife and I also play some random games while driving (especially on long trips) and we usually have more than one going on at a given time. So, it would be cool to be able to have more than one "game/session" going on at once, and the ability to quickly switch between them.

One potential "advanced feature" could be for a timer. It could either be a "count up" or "count down". If you do "count down" then you need to be able to specify the duration. Additionally, you would need pause and reset buttons available.

Still, the simpler the better. Just make sure that the buttons are big and easy to press and you'll have a winner. Looking forward to seeing it.

One last thing, since this will be such a simple app, it will be a great place for someone wanting to learn how to program for Maemo to have an app/idea to play around with.
