Anyone use Orb?
 

Hi,

Just wondering if anybody uses Orb to stream media when they're away from home, or even away from the PC. I generally use it most when I'm in the kitchen to stream live TV to my laptop while i cook stuff.

I've had problems getting streaming video to my n900 though, which sucks.

Is anyone working on a native app for Maemo so you don't have to use the slow web interface? If nobody else is, I might try my hand at it. Although I've had the worst experience ever developing for Maemo so nothing will probably come of it. I'm also working on a simple rts in XNA targetting the Xbox, PC, and Zune simultaneously so I don't know how much time I'd actually devote to it.

Try Tversity buddy, its excellent. N900 found it straight away, Id even forgot i left it on. Music and vid work great.

i have posted settings about n900 for orb see my strated posts. since then i moved to knots 2. way better than orb.

i found tversity buggy. if you get knots running you won't use anything else

knots is not an av server but has client for n900 and web interface for pc

I'll check knots out, but a search for knots or knots server didn't turn up anything useful. Do you have a link?

EDIT: I feel stupid, there was a post about Knots 2 a couple threads down. Nvm

Orb works great on my N900.Video and mp3 streaming, even tv!

you should really try out knots. quality difference is amazing
