Change desktop with Arrow Keys

Hi peoples,

Would there be a simple way to allow functionality to change the desktop using the arrow keys?

Such that a left arrow key would move to the desktop screen left, and the right arrow key would move to the desktop screen right.

Great Idea!

Ideally ctrl+left or ctrl+ right to switch desktops left or right. And ctrl + 1, 2, 3, 4 to jump to that desktop!

Not a great idea. But it'll be a great idea to change the 4 panoramic desktop completely by replacing a 4 completely different panoramic background with a single easy key.

So that if i want to change the background completely, i just press the key and the more i press the more set of background changes depend on how many set i set them up.

My hildon-desktop has this feature. See this thread:

If you want the arrows, you only need to replace hildon-desktop, you don't need the other steps.

I've got fed up of having to use the "swipe" to change desktops, it's one of those features that looks nice to start with but gets tiring after a while. So now I use that other technique, touch left-then-right-then-release-left.
