Is google docs a viable alternative to a dedicated document editor on the n900

Hi,

As per the title , is google docs through the browser a good enough experience to take away the need to have an installed document editor ?

I expect a harsh reaction to this but as the applications are limited and it seems that it will be a while before there is a dedicated document editor I wanted to check with users who are using google docs,

Cheers,

I wouldn't say it's the best alternative (since I usually have to use the mouse function in the browser to get to some options) but it works well until an alternative arrives.

I think it would be cool to have an app which logs into your google account and allows you to create/read/modify your google docs (instead of doing it with the browser)

I tried this before on my 810, which benefits from the larger screen. It works technically and the exchange with office is fine. But it was very slow, especially loading initially and using whatever operational choice in the program. On the N900 it is only slightly faster. Google docs itself is't fast at all. And the buttons are tiny, even using a stylus. An app indeed would really help here!

Yeah agreed, I have now ordered a n900 on upgrade on vodafone , I think i can live with not being able to edit documents, just a shame I cant open office documents!

Is the "full version" of Docs to Go not ready yet? It worked great on my WinMo device, but I haven't had a chance, nor need, to look into it for the 900 yet.

I dont think it is , please if anyone can prove me wrong that would be great lol!

I sent back my HD2 for the n900 which had everything as standard and for free ( apart from the ability to be reliable!)
