App Manager broken

Hi everyone,

I have a problem with my App Manager and I'm starting to get a bit worried.

First, I am behind a proxy, so when I tried to check for updates with App Manager and it reported with failure, I wasn't that concerned.

Then, when I clicked on 'Download', I got a message 'no applications available'. Again, I thought it was to do with my internet settings.

But now I pressed on 'uninstall applications', which resulted in a message 'no applications installed' - and I have dozens of them, and now I am worried.

What's wrong?

If you need more info just tell me, but please say what is it exactly that you need.

Thanks, hope someone helps soon, because I'm about to do a rain dance for the Linux Gods.

Also, just when I open App Manager, I get a notification 'Operation failed', even before I try to do anything with it.

Open a xterminal and try
apt-get clean
And see if it helps. Or try a reboot :D. There is a lot of cleaning that will be done by the power down ^^.

I'm absolutely no pro, but it sounds like something happened because of the internet connection.

Everything will probably be fine once you use the update function in the app manager with a good internet connection.

Nope, none of these work. Actually, rebooting was the first thing I tried, because it's what you do with Linux :D

The problem is that I won't get a non-proxy connection for ages. And, I mean, I've read even on this forum people have been able to get app manager to work with proxy. As my major goal I want to achieve that, too. But for now, I would at least like to be able to manage my applications.

Maybe you can deactivate the repositorys and then update.. Then activate the repositorys again.

Nokia's default applications not in the list for remove in App.Manager but you can do it by x-term:
1. open x-term
2. "sudo gainroot"
3. "apt-get remove packageName"

Ok, I think I found something to do with the problem.

If I try to do anything with apt-get in terminal, I get this:

"Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/repository.maemo.org_extras_dists_fremantle_free_b inary-armel_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened."

Ways to fix this?

Ok, if I disable Maemo Extras repo, App Manager starts to work fine. How can I fix the problem with Maemo Extras?

No, forget that, it only worked once and then it said there was some error with extras-testing.

Don't know what's broken.
