How can I find out how much battery life I have left?

In the Get started video on the N900 in the status area, it has a time scale e.g: 1hour 37 min left.


I just have the battery icon.

Go to xterm and type

ahhh that 2nd command worked, thanks.

So I've got 54% remaing, thats great. But is there not a setting to have this in the status area?

But my n900 keyboard (UK) doesnt show one. Any ideas?
