Dead - N800 + Bt Plugin = Kabooooom!!!
This is a Kaboom worth looking out for!!!!!!
I installed the bt plugin, as discussed in the thread I started N800 + BT Gamepad - KBDD or Not? I installed it rebooted and it was the last thing I could do with my n800, it is now dead, will not boot, starts to ans then shuts down. Flashed 3 times now to no avail. I am on my way to COMPUSA (21 days for returns, I just called them, they said they would replace it no problem.) I am completely confused by how this happened, what was in that plugin that would have broken the device? Could it have been a coencidence, anyone else want to try, hehe This really concerns me, I could do anything to the 770 and I could alwas reflash it an make it work. |
Re: Dead - N800 + Bt Plugin = Kabooooom!!!
As I had mentioned in another thread, installing the bt plugin zapped me, too. However, I was able to uninstall it and everything was fine. Not sure why you were not. What version was your OS?
Also, did you try removing the battery for several seconds and trying again? Did it have a full charge before you installed bt? Finally, I've realized the N800 should not need the bt plugin. The functionality appears to be built in. |
Re: Dead - N800 + Bt Plugin = Kabooooom!!!
Why are you installing the plugin? OS2007 has full bluetooth support built in. Was it the 0s2006 plugin? If so, you essentially tried to install a hardware driver for an Apple into a PC (as the bt hardware is in the processor).

Nokia N800 seem to have similar partitioning w/ N770. From the look of it /dev/mtdblock4, means the flash have atleast 4 partitions. being partition 4=rootfs(compressed). The other 3 probably are, loader,debug/flash mode, and may be the kernel. saying that you was able to reflash it, then probably means the 3rd or 4th partition is corrupted. Why not try reflashing it w/ developer kernel, rebooted and reflash it again w/ the normal kernel.

Re: Dead - N800 + Bt Plugin = Kabooooom!!!
AS I mentioned in my other thread, it was done to try to get my BT GAMEPAD running using kbdd. My nokia keyboard worked out of the box. Well I honestly did not think that it would work, I figured whats the worst that can happen, I need to reflash. Well after installing it I rebooted and itwas an infinite loop, I then reflased it and it then turned on and then shutdown, over and over again. Reflased 3 times to no avail, I then returned to COMPUSA and got a new one. Honestly I am unix admin by trade, I am not an id10t, like I said I assumed it would not work, but I did not think it would KILL the n800.
TEXTRAT: You said you did the same thing and then uninstalled it, how did you uninstall it? You must never have rebooted? OS was latest level 51-6 I think New n800 is in hand and I got an extra stylus out of the deal, oh well, no pain no gain. |

Yeah, I too tried installing that bluetooth plugin, beforee figuring out that the N800 accepts a thinkoutside stowaway native (with enough futzing around). Curiously, I was able to install and see the memory/cpu/screenshot applet before installing the dangerous bluetooth plugin, but am now unable to see any sort of small plugin icon (like the little clock one) now.
I immedI immediately uninstalled the bluetooth plugin once I realized it was useless. e, it was the weather program/applet that caused a disconcerting infinite boot loop. I interrupted the loop by pulling the battery. ately uninstalled the bluetooth plugin once I realized it was useless. |
