In Layman's terms what new?
 

As some of you are aware, I am not a high end user or all that smart when it comes to what this phone can do, I did however do a maemo update this morning and can not see much that is new, well anything really, except all the internet radio stations i deleted are back grrrr

What is new and of interest to someone like me?

Icons in Application Manager

Dunno about the rest. Its too LInuxy for me (I do love Linux btw, but I havnt worked on Linux in over 7 years!)

Icons and fixes in HAM mainly about SSU. That's the most of it.

Ovi-Store repository in app manager and lot of nice little gadget programs and games in the new Ovi Store: Angy Birds, Counter, Egg Timer, ....

Its a little less broken now :D

It's ready for the next update, where even more stuff will be less broken, and some new stuff will show up, some of which you may actually see as a user.

You should notice better battery life with this version.

unless i am imagining tthings i am noticing the scrollbars are now much better and may have been added in some cases.

generally snappier and homescreens change much faster when swiped.

i saw the icons you mentioned in the download area, but thats all i notice that is different for me so far....

As stated, that's pretty much all you will notice. This was more of a background update to allow the big (pr1.1) update to work correctly.
