Changing the default background folder
Rather than leaving all of my background images and associated .desktop files in the Images folder, I would like to create a subfolder called Backgrounds and move them all there. But when I do, they no longer show up when I try to change the backgrounds. Sure, I know I can browse to the new folder and manually change each one, but they no longer show up as "Image sets". How can I tell it to check for .desktop files in the new folder?

Re: Changing the default background folder
I'm not sure, but searching the .images folder might be hardcoded.
If it is a workaround could be to leave the .desktop files there and modify the links in them to point somewhere else. The current .desktop files have paths like so: Code:
X-File1=/home/user/MyDocs/.images/digital_nature1_01.jpg |

Re: Changing the default background folder
Thanks codeMonkey! I was looking for the same customization as jellotherat, but this is atleast a start. Still, it's far from ideal as you still need to edit every individual .desktop file.
So, seconding jellotherat's question, is there any known way of altering the default background folder? Will of course search for possible answers myself and post them here if found. |

Re: Changing the default background folder
Looking in http://maemo.gitorious.org/fremantle...round.c#line58 and http://maemo.gitorious.org/fremantle...ound.c#line245 it looks like the two folders it looks in are indeed /usr/share/backgrounds and /home/user/MyDocs/.images and it would need someone to change the source and recompile to change that. I'm not sure if you'll be able to persuade Nokia to do that, but there's at least one community-compiled Hildon Desktop out there that might be more amenable to this kind of change.
