Firmware 1.01 a power dracular?
 

My N900 became very power hungry after i upgrade to firmware 1.01. My previous usage would last me over 36hours but with this update, I went through 2 full charged battery already and not even 24hours. What the heck is going on?

My CPU always rocket high up the roof. Even just opening a SMS. With the old firmware it only 2bars usage. Now everthing is RED... And even randomly freeze sometimes. Surely made my device slower than before and use more power.:mad:


Does everyone experiencing this problem?

Let's ask this first before we go any further.
Have you installed anything from devel or extras testing? Or anything outside repositories?

well i don't experience such problem at all. in fact., it is the other way round for me, after update it seems the battery life can last longer.

Yes I did. I installed it since my previous firmware. And I've been using the only stable software(s) from there. And with the old firmware it doesn't have the power problem at all. I don't see why this update doesn't like those software(s).

I used the same apps with the 1.0 and yes my battery last me 36Hours + with my usage. Now It barely able getting through 8hours without using much but SMS. SMS alone redline my CPU lol.. This is crazy. Is there away to get rid of this update?

There has been some people who have said that their battery doesnt last as it used to after this update.

Only way to make your phone use old firmware is to reflash it.

Well I just turned off some functionality (MSN, Google talk, Skype, yahoo, OVI contact) on the phone and uninstalled some apps. And charge it tonight to full. Tomorrow is another day of testing.

By the way, I got 2x Genuine BL-5J batteries. One is full charged and another one is charging. This is my test to see if this time there are any differences. Hopefully those above are the problem

Crickey! I'm not going to reflash it. I've got so much apps that I like on it. Reflashing will result in losing all my hard works of software testing. I'm going to test it out again tomorrow. May be mainly playing music. And SMS and a bit of Wifi email checking.

But I can see that my battery start draining as soon as I using it (10mins of just turn the screen on and off a few times, my battery down by 1%). I experienced freezing moment while replying SMS while typing. This is very unusual behaviour on my N900. Never had that problem before the update!:( Let's hope there are alot of other like me out there. Who experienced the same thing

I was late from work this morning because my n900 didn't woke me up. It used over half of the battery in 7 hours and was dead at the morning. There was no programs or even data connection open. I hope it was the wlan bug or something temporary and not the update.
