What other Tmobile servers out there and Skype?
 

Hello everyone, i wanted to know what other Tmobile servers are out there and which one gives the best reception. I live in Maryland which you can say is the DC/VA area. So far i have gathered found three Tmobile servers:

epc.tmobile.com
internet2.voicestream.com
wap.voicestream.com

On other thing i have noticed is that when i use Skype to call someone i can't hear them sometimes for couple of seconds when they are speaking, kind of like they are breaking up. I am guessing it might have to do with what ever Tmobile server i am connected to at the time. What are other Tmobile servers out there? and how do you guys that use sky handle this break off of the stream?

I believe most people are supposed to be using epc. right now, aside from sidekick and total internet.

VOIP works best with good QoS, and enough bandwidth, are you getting 3G all the time? There could be a number of different things that would cause a drop out on calls like that, but i really doubt its the APN u are using.

3G all the time and also 3.5G sometimes. Thanks for that url..did not know about it.

Well, given that using the Internet2 APN, routes traffic somewhere out of "Kansas", and the user is in Maryland, I think it makes a big difference, especially compared to using the epc APN, which routes traffic more in-line with where the user is actually located. Since VoIP connections are generally not recommended when latency is over 150ms, being on a network with latency as high as 250ms will cause issues.

As far as 3G and 3.5G...calls are made on 3G network, data on 3.5 (different bands). QoS, with "VoIP" traffic having priority, is most likely "not" going to be configured on T-Mo's data network, but more than likely "is" on which ever VoIP provider the person is using.

Bottom line, if you are on the "smartphone" plan, its best to be on epc. If you're on the $10 plan, you're pretty much limited to Internet2, or whichever APN they configured for you.

my phone always on 3G and 3.5 and having no problem surfing the web. But problems is when im trying tethering using PCsuite via usb. And the browser not always loading the page. although it shows 921kbps. I tried both setting epc. and internet2. still the same result page doesnt want to load most of the time.
