Do Conversion IM login route via Nokia or directly to Google/Skpe?
After the PR1.1 update, in the last hour the N900 cannot login to my gmail IM configured via conversions.
The red exclamation appears and during this hour, my battery drained from 78% to 70%. Does the login route through Nokia's servers or directly to google/skype. I'm not seeing any login issues from my PC (I do logout from PC to ensure no conflict). Am I at the mercy of Nokia's servers (which have a terrible track record for Nokia Messaging) Anyone else with problems in USA? and why the huge battery drain during this time? Not using wifi and i'm in my usual location (at work) |

No, maemo is not like blackberry. Each type of IM is forwarded to its own network, without travelling through the Nokia servers.
So the problem must be of a different kind. Do you know whether dns resolving is working? I mean, can you surf the web? Some people are reporting problems with name resolution if they had vpnc installed prior to the update. If this is the case, then look here for a fix: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...8&postcount=47 Best regards. |

I was able to login after I rebooted (but this was not the first reboot after installing PR1.1). The bigger issue is the 'HUGE' battery drain that occured during this time. Note I don't use/configure (automatic) wifi since the reboots, so its not a wifi issue
