nokia messaging problem (result of firmware update?)
just tried to setup nokia messaging on my wife's phone. mine was setup a few weeks ago. mine was with the original production firmware, both of our phones are now on PR1.1.
when i try to setup her existing nokia messaging acct, when i select nokia messaging as the service provider in the setup wizard it prompts me for email and password, but then after that it wants pop and imap settings. i put the correct nokia msg credentials in the first prompt, but its as if it thinks its an email i want to include in nokia messaging, because it then wants username, email box type, smtp, etc. instead of the login itself. in other words, the only prompts i can find are to setup a new acct! i dont remember my installation having these issues. shes going out of town tomorrow and id love to have email setup and ready. |

nobody?
guess i'll skip nok. messaging and go straight to ima on our server. so much for ease and portability of nok. msg. |
Re: nokia messaging problem (result of firmware update?)
Hi,
This is my first post as I just aquired my N900 today. I had the exact same problem this evening. I searched around the net to find a solution and nobody had one. Until now!! Sorry, abit overly dramatic there. Anyway, it is quite simple, I just put in dummy data into each of the required fields. I used a fullstop '.' then clicked next when prompted. It then just worked. It is a silly bug, but there you are. Enjoy. |
