Application for "Search for files"
 

The N900 is missing a "Search for files" application/function, at least I could not find any. I think it would be a useful one.

The basis is there, through the "find" command in the xterm. Details: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/find or base http://www.gnu.org/software/findutil...mono/find.html

Would be great to have an GUI for this. Giving the following basic functionalities:

• Search by the name or part of it
• Search by the type, ex: .deb or .doc (Windows users are used to this)
• Search by date or last changed or accessed
• Search based on folders, ex: root (/) or MyDocs

All this is possible by using "find", but most of the users have no idea of xterm and will never read the instructions how to use the "find" in command line. This would be another application what would show that N900 is a computer and not a mobile.

For some of the searches the app will also need sudo rights, this would then have to be dealt with. Otherwise there will be a lot of "Permission denied" replies. Partial solution would be to allow users without rootsh a search only in MyDocs and subfolders.

No idea if it would be possible to directly move to the found files? Would be great but not essential.

Sadly I have no idea of GUI programming, so maybe someone with skills would make it reality.

will check it out, cant find if from the repos right now, but I have only extras, ovi and Nokia functioning
