Maemo 5 SDK, VMware images
 

Hi,
I'm a newbie, just looking at current gen platforms to aid in making a platform decision.

Whilst I run linux extensively I decided to download the vmware images for the v5 sdk for ease of use (and so I could run on my Home windows desktop).

I downloaded from
http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...-downloads.php

Choosing:
Maemo_Ubuntu_Intrepid_Desktop_SDK_Virtual_Image_Sp litted.zip.001
from
http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/maemo-d...tu_Intrepid_De... (truncated)

However this image is labelled as
"Maemo PreFinal Fremantle Beta 2 and Diablo SDK Virtual Image with Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 Desktop Part 1"

The work "preFinal" worried me.

Am I downloading the wrong image?

Or is this a good base (which I can update once up/running)

The prefinal image is the newest available, I have no idea why Nokia haven't released the final image. The prefinal image does not have the newest Qt Creator programs. I gave up using the image entirely. It is too troublesome to set up and to use. I am using Qt Creator on Windows with MADDE in order to build for N900.

Setting up the development enviroment for creating applications for N900 is not easy, it is the toughest enviroment I have experienced so far. I have developed for normal J2ME, BlackBerry and iPhone.
