Any tutorials on how to runa game on dosbox for start to finish?
 

As title really, just cant get my head around this?

I have dosbox installed on my N900 - I understand the fact i have to mount a drive, but not sure where, how if or what. I have my original cannon fodder CD here and would love to know - in leymans terms on how to get it to play.

Please someone help - I have spent probably 3 hours looking through the dosbox posts, but most just have little conf problems, I cant even get that far.

Had the same problem few days ago, and then I typed dosbox into the search box and opened up this thread:

It's not all relevant, but gives you some nice tips on running the app and how mounting and keymapping is done.

Nope, still jibberishh to me - FIrstly i want to know how i install Cannon fodder from the setup files I have on the CD to the nokia, that should get me started then I can probably work the mounting balls out later.

ANy more help much appreciated - are all the decent apps this complicated (obviously not to you guys i know) it took me about 3 hours to learn how to move the .pk files to make Quake 3 work :(

Hello again all, if you could tell me how to use the ~ symbol so i can actually run files in dos i think i may hve this cracked e.g I want to run setmeup.exe but i need to type setme~1.exe and i cant find the ~ key, i have used rover.sys and changed layout to "keyb rover.sys us" but still no joy, doesnt seem to be a tilde key there

I agree we really do need a tutorial document for dosbox.
I have an mdf image of a game I want to play, but if I extract the files to a folder on my phone and run the setup.exe file I get an error saying can't use this file in dos.. :-(

You should really read that thread posted above. You will have to mount a folder in the dosbox-0.73.conf file.

in my case, its on my media card:
mount c /media/mmc/dos

then you would want to load the rover.sys file for your keyboard layout:
keyb rover.sys us

you place your setup files in that mounted folder. If you're getting a ~ in the filename, try editing the name of the file to be shorter.

that should get you started.

Yep, i have managed to change the keyboard layout with the rover.sys so thats no problem, I have readthe above file and it says nothing about how to install games.

Do you have to run the game setup on your n900 via dosbox or do you set the game up on your PC and then copy all the files over from the install directory, after thats been answered im sorted! (and i'll do a tutorial aswell for all the non linux bumders like me on here :) )

install via dosbox on your n900.

First things first: Make sure your game/application can run in DOS.

If it can't run in DOS, then it can't run in DosBox.

DosBox is NOT Windows.
DosBox is NOT WINE.

I can't find where the DOSBox install is?
