NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
Hello,
Excuse me guys, as I'm a new Maemo user, I actually don't know much in Terminal X and stuff.. I just tried to search alot about questions I was asking in my head and one of those questions were reflashing the device.. I think it's a very useful feature, which I'm sure I'll need it in the future.. I just wanted to create a new thread for new users like me, that would be an easy reference for them while using Maemo devices. |

Re: NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
Hi
I didn't want to start a new thread for this question that is not answered in the wiki. Can i reflash my eMMC with the 2009.41-1.VANILLA on my 2009.51.1 device? Because there is no other VANILLA than this one. greetz donsaibot |
Re: NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
You can, just don't forget the backup.
However 2009.51.1 (also named PR 1.1) brings an incredible user experience, I flashed back too because I had the subjective feeling video steaming has become choppy - obviously it was the video. In the end PR 1.0 just felt slow and I flashed back. I suggest reflashing PR 1.1 instead. |
Re: NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
I want to reflash PR1.1
but for the eMMC there is only 41.1. Understand what i mean? |
Re: NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
The eMMC doesn't really need to be reflashed, but if you think you might have corrupted something in the OS there is no problem reflashing eMMC 41.1 + PR1.1.
Flashing the eMMC will completely wipe out your settings and restore factory defaults, also, I don't think nokia will make other eMMC releases as they do not preserve user data compared to PR releases. Please vote something posted in my sig if I helped you & you think it might be useful:D |

Re: NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
As a novice i re-flashed my N900 and it transformed the device, which has become a nightmare after PR1.1.
It was easy, yook less than 30mins and all applicatiosn re-installed without problem. The only issue i had was that the flasher would not work with my version of Win7 64 but worked fine on Win7 32. However I did have to restart my PC and press F8 and enable the Windows option that enables unsigned drivers IIRC. This was a week ago and only had 2 re-boots and battery life is fantastic. So long as you back up all will be fine. |
Re: NOOBS Thread: Reflashing the device.
Unfortunately this is my second reflash..:D
The first one was because of 83% rootfs usage from to many devel apps i wanted to test. |
